It is accompanied by a second galaxy: NGC 5195. These objects are fairly bright (for a telescope) and are easily imaged. The two galaxies are believed to have collided (NGC 5195 moving through M51) several times as simulations show that this is the only way both galaxies can have their current forms. When mentioning M51 we generally take both galaxies into account. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This was my first ever attempt at using editing software&#8230; and it shows! Nonetheless, I enjoyed seeing these images pop up on my screen when I finished the editing process.
